Oprah wants O.J. Simpson to confess to her

"I have a dream of O.J. Simpson confessing to me," Winfrey told an audience at the Cable Show, an industry trade show in Chicago, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "And I am going to make that happen, people."

How? We're not sure. But Oprah is, and that may be all that matters. "I don't just want the interview," she told Paula Zahn during the session. "I want the interview on the condition that you are ready, Mr. Simpson."

Simpson was acquitted in 1995 of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman. He later lost a wrongful-death civil suit brought by Goldman's family and is currently serving a 33-year prison sentence in Nevada on kidnapping, assault and robbery charges.

Winfrey says she's tried to land an O.J. interview over the years but never did. Ditto for Susan Smith, the South Carolina woman convicted of drowning her two sons in 1995 and at first lying to police about it. She still hopes to interview Smith as well and will have a vehicle to do so in "Oprah's Next Chapter," an interview show set to premiere on her cable channel OWN in January.

Winfrey acknowledged the shaky start for OWN but says now that her daytime show is done, she can focus all her attention on the new network: "This really is the moment I've been waiting for. I have the ability to commit my full energy."

Do you think Oprah could land an O.J. confession, and if so, would you watch it?
