Oprah Winfrey holding massive yard sale of personal items from past 30 years
Oprah Winfrey is holding a yard sale just like she does everything else in life: by making it bigger, better and completely over the top.
"It is my idea of a yard sale, and just like everybody you start accumulating stuff and accumulating stuff. I've been accumulating things since 1985. It's just too much stuff," she explains to Entertainment Tonight. "I need to de-clutter my own life."
The items in Winfrey's yard sale come from her homes in Hawaii, Indiana and California. Among the pieces are her massive dolls collection, furniture, a 19th century set of library stairs and various other collectibles.
"I'm trying to live the life I talk about, like not letting things define you, but it's hard," Winfrey says.
The money Winfrey makes from her yard sale will go to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa. The yard sale takes place in Santa Barbara on Nov. 2, and also is being conducted online through Kaminski.
