Oscars 2011: Melissa Leo's dream date, Alice Ward

melissa-leo-gi.jpgAlready having won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of the tough-as-nails Alice Ward in "The Fighter," Melissa Leo was still excited as ever upon receiving word of her supporting actress Oscar nod.

As for who the actress will bring to the ceremony, she already has one dream date in mind: The real life Alice Ward.

"It would be super for her to go with me," she tells USA Today. "But I don't know if the doctors will think that's a good idea."

The 80-year-old suffered cardiac arrest earlier this month and stopped breathing for a full 30 minutes before regaining consciousness and quite literally, coming back to life.

"She's in a fragile condition in a Boston hospital," Leo adds. "So a shout-out to Alice, much love and all strengths."

Co-star Amy Adams is up for an Oscar in the same category, as is Christian Bale for supporting actor. The film itself is nominated for best motion picture.

Tune in on Feb. 27 to see if Ward makes it to the ceremony. Now that would be great TV.
