Oscars 2014: 'Vampire Diaries' crew member Sarah Jones included during 'In Memoriam' segment ... kind of
After Sarah Jones, a 27-year-old camera assistant known for working on many movies and TV shows like "The Vampire Diaries," was tragically hit and killed by a train while working on the new Greg Allman biopic, "Midnight Rider," many fans, friends and family of hers campaigned for the 86th Academy Awards to include her name during the "In Memoriam" segment on Sunday (March 2).
An online petition, Slates for Sarah, urging the academy to honor the beloved crew member collected over 55,000 signatures and many TV shows showed their support by dedicating slates in her name over the past few weeks. So did the Oscars come through?
Kind of. While Jones' name wasn't included during the actual video montage, at the end of the segment a bar ran across the bottom of the TV screen honoring her. Perhaps it was too late to include Jones during the official segment?
Whatever the reason, at least the Oscars honored Jones at all. Do you think Jones should have been included in the actual segment? Let us know in the comments.
