'Outlander' premiere episode 'Sassenach' available online Aug. 2

outlander-starz-premiere-early-online.jpgThe highly-anticipated series "Outlander," based on Diana Gabaldon's worldwide bestselling book series, will be available early for fans, Starz announced Friday (July 11).

The premiere episode, titled "Sassenach," will be available Saturday, Aug. 2 across multiple platforms, including on-demand, the official Starz website, the Starz YouTube channel and Starz Play app.

"We've heard from fans the world over who are anxiously awaiting to see how we've brought Claire and Jamie to life in what may possibly be the most highly anticipated series in Starz history," says Starz CEO Chris Albrecht. "Out 'Outlander' sampling strategy serves the dual purpose of giving early access to the series premiere for those fans thirsting to watch it as soon as possibly, as well as providing a vehicle that introduces the Starz experience to prospective new subscribers who are eager to learn all about this great new series."

Albrecht also revealed during the 2014 TCA press tour presentation that the 16-episode first season, which will encompass the entire first novel, will air its first eight episodes from Aug. 9 through Sept. 27 and then air the remaining eight episodes in early 2015.

Fans can start enjoying all of the available images and clips now at OutlanderCommunity.com, a social destination that aggregates the latest "Outlander" content from across the web.

"Outlander" premieres Saturday, Aug. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Starz.
