Own Kate Middleton's childhood home; Princess-to-be's former digs up for auction
The cute-as-a-button home where princess-to-be Kate Middleton spent her childhood is for sale. And, like a brick-and-mortar royal tchotchke, it's for sale to the highest bidder.
On April 19, the home -- in the English countryside village of Bradfield -- will be offered for sale at SeenOn.com, a Gilt-like site that currently appears to be confined to offering sales on designer items and TV tie-in products (Example: "Lifetime Presents: Theory Sunglasses Inspired by William & Kate's Royal Wedding." Because, you know, nothing leaps to mind quicker than sunglasses when contemplating a royal wedding.).
A description of the property:
Entrance hall with Victorian tiled floor, 2 reception rooms, kitchen, family room, utility room/cloakroom, 4 bedrooms, bathroom. Full oil-fired central heating. Outbuildings include office/workshop/playroom 20' x 10' overall external measurement, presently divided into two, with electric light and power, and a timber constructed workshop. Approximate floor area: 1,420 sq ft. PRICE GUIDE: £495,000.
That's $808,212 at the current exchange rate.
The catch: Prospective buyers will have to register with SeenOn.com to see additional photos of the property and submit bids. Maybe Prince William can surprise Kate with the house as a wedding gift?
