Is cable network Oxygen ready to cancel its reality show, "The Glee Project," after two seasons? While reports indicate that the "Glee" spin-off will not return for Season 3, its network says otherwise.

As first reported by TVLine, sources at Oxygen indicate that there were several factors involved in making the decision not to renew the show. Low ratings and the fact that "Glee" itself has not yet been renewed for a fifth season on FOX are believed to be the main reasons.

A statement from an Oxygen spokesperson, however, indicated that "The Glee Project" -- while not officially safe for another season -- still has a shot: "What TV Line reported was speculation. 'The Glee Project' has not been canceled."

"The Glee Project" -- produced, like "Glee," by Ryan Murphy -- debuted in the summer of 2011. The show brought a group of singing, dancing and acting hopefuls the chance to compete for a role o n the FOX musical comedy.

The first season ended with two winners and two runners-up, all of whom were given limited roles on "Glee." Two of them, Samuel Larsen and Alex Newell, are still recurring on Season 4 episodes, while Damian McGinty also appeared this season.

Season 2 crowned only one winner, Blake Jenner. Playing the new character of Ryder in "Glee" Season 4, Jenner has ended up as one of the show's new main characters.

Will there be any new students coming to "Glee" from "The Glee Project"? We are likely to find out soon.
