The latest obstacle to happiness comes in the form of Sonya Walger ("Lost," "Common Law"), who has taken a recurring role on the NBC drama in the fall. Her character, Meredith, is an architect who is working with contractor Joel ( Sam Jaeger) on a big project.

Her upfront manner -- and the fact that she looks like Sonya Walger -- unnerves Joel's wife, Julia ( Erika Christensen), who begins to see Meredith as a threat to their marriage. Even though Joel, to this point, has been nothing but a loyal partner.

Walger's casting follows on the heels of news that Matt Lauria is returning to the show as Amber's ( Mae Whitman) boyfriend, Ryan. Ray Romano will also be back as Sarah's ( Lauren Graham) would-be love interest Hank.

"Parenthood" premieres at 10 p.m. ET Thursday, Sept. 26 on NBC.
