'Parenthood's' Jason Ritter joins FOX's 'Gavin & Stacey' remake

jason-ritter-comic-con-2012.jpgThis may not be great news for Team Mark Cyr, but it's definitely good news for Jason Ritter. He's signed on to star as Gavin in FOX's remake of British comedy "Gavin & Stacey." The FOX project, titled "Friends & Family," focuses on a couple who met over the internet and are about to go on their first date.

Ritter's character is described as "adorably neurotic" and "a good guy." Stacey has yet to be cast in the series, a single-camera comedy from writer David Rosen, Sony TV and BBC Worldwide Prods.

Of course, this means that Ritter may not return to "Parenthood" if it's picked up for Season 5. Unfortunately, his character split from Lauren Graham's last season and he was left out in the cold as she chose to be with Ray Romano's character instead. We are still not over it.

Ritter was one of the most highly sought-after actors this pilot season, fielding multiple offers before making his choice. Deadline first reported the casting.
