Paris Jackson talks about the masks and Michael Jackson on 'Oprah's Next Chapter'
"I was really confused," Paris says, looking like a mature teen with eyeliner and flatironed hair as she sits with Oprah at her family's home. "I didn't get why I was wearing a mask, but I understand it now, why my dad would want our face to be covered." She says that because of the masks, when she and her brothers went out in public without their father, they could go unrecognized by fans and paparazzi.
Still, she says Michael didn't always believe he could provide his kids with a normal childhood. "He had his doubts. He told us that when he was younger he didn't really have a childhood. He would always be stuck in the studio while other kids were out playing."
She does appreciate his efforts, though -- saying that because of the lengths he went to, she and brothers Blanket and Prince were able to enjoy normal kid things, like Chuck E. Cheese visits and Toys R Us shopping.
Watch Oprah's visit with Paris this Sunday at 9 p.m. EST on OWN.
