'Parks and Recreation' creator Mike Schur directs Decemberists video

It may seem unlikely, but NBC's "Parks and Recreation" is apparently the hot new trend in music videos.  First, comedian Aziz Ansari made a stunt-tastic cameo in Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Otis" and now, "Parks and Rec" co-creator Mike Schur directed the music video for "Calamity Song," the latest single from indie darlings The Decemberists.

Schur's video draws from the 1996 David Foster Wallace novel "Infinite Jest," a literary work to which Schur is particularly connected.

"I've read this thing cover to cover maybe eight to ten times...It is literally my favorite book and they are literally my favorite band," says an excited Schur.

Schur is such an "Infinite Jest" super-fan that he now owns the film rights to the novel.  While he has no immediate plans to either adapt the novel or direct the feature, Schur says "if you don't jump at the chance when something like this comes along, well then what are you even doing [in showbiz]?"  If the video is any indication, Wallace fans are in expert and loving hands.
