'Parks and Recreation's' Aziz Ansari confirmed MTV Movie Awards host
Though best known for his "Parks and Rec" role and for his character Randy in 2009's "Funny People," Ansari actually got his start on MTV as part of the cast of "Human Giant." In a statement, MTV's general manager Stephen Friedman says, "Aziz is the perfect host for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards as he will bring his innovative comedy and distinctive style to the movie industry's most rebellious night on television."
Never one to miss an opportunity for a statement, Ansari released his own thoughts on the gig. "I'm so happy Ronnie from 'Jersey Shore' was unavailable and this exciting opportunity was able to come my way," he says.
The "Parks and Recreation" cast is currently on a brief break before they begin production on Season 3, which was pushed up to accommodate Amy Poehler's pregnancy. Ansari has been keeping occupied by stirring up trouble on Twitter. He created a Twitter account called @ TheRealPFChangs and has been tweeting things like, " Congrats to PF Chang's Rome location - voted best restaurant in Italy by Food and Wine Magazine!" and " Dangerous kung pao toxins have leaked in location #238 in Greer, MI. Unfortunately, we must seal in the patrons & close it down."
