patti-labelle-american-horror-story.jpgRyan Murphy has recruited yet another musical legend for the latest season of his spooky FX anthology series, "American Horror Story: Freak Show" -- Patti LaBelle.

According to TVLine, LaBelle will play the mother of Gabourey Sidibe's character, a "local townsperson who begins to unravel the murderous secrets of Twisty the clown killer." While Stevie Nicks played herself in "AHS: Coven," LaBelle's role is not a musical one.

"Freak Show" will be another period piece -- it's set at a Florida carnival in the 1950s, producer Tim Minear revealed in the show's first-ever Comic-Con panel in July.

"I can tell you this, which is not much: It's the best season so far. I actually mean that," Minear says. "It's not like the first three seasons."
