Paul Rudd did more than just make out with Barbara Walters when he stopped by "Good Morning America" Wednesday (Dec. 18). He also talked about the movie he was there to promote: "Anchorman: The Legend Continues."

For Rudd, the role of Brian Fantana was one he's wanted since he first heard about it. "When I read the script for 'Anchorman,' the first one, I just thought it was the funniest thing I'd ever read and I really fought to get an audition for it," he tells George Stephanopoulos.

In fact, Rudd wanted the part so badly that he went to the audition entirely in character.

"I don't usually dress up for an audition, but with that one, because it was so specific, I went dressed in costume," he says. "The costume designer for that film is a woman named Deb Maguire, [and] was also doing costumes for 'Friends,' and I was working on 'Friends' at the time. She decked me out."

The ploy worked, and viewers are the better for it. Watch the above video to see a clip from "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" -- in theaters now -- that show's Brian's new job post-news reporter. It's pretty incredible.
