Peyton and Eli Manning are ... 'Football Cops.' And also have too much free time

peyton-eli-football-cops.jpgThere are rumblings that the NFL lockout could be ending in the next couple of weeks, which would allow training camps to open more or less as scheduled in late July and the season to start on time in September.

If the lockout does end soon, then Peyton and Eli Manning will go back to their day jobs -- and the world be a less safe place. Because that will mean they'll be hanging up their badges as "Football Cops."

The Super Bowl-winning quarterback brothers (and their dad, Archie, who makes a cameo) star in a hilariously straight-faced trailer for "Football Cops," a fake show that features mustaches borrowed from the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" video and a pretty excellent tagline: "Justice is a team sport." It's all a promotion for DirecTV, but it's a pretty good one.

We've known for a long time that Peyton Manning is a natural ham in front of the camera: Witness his "Cut that meat!" MasterCard ad from a few years back and his surprisingly strong turn hosting "Saturday Night Live" in 2007 (the United Way digital short was a standout). Eli has always been a little more reserved, but he's pretty funny here too.
