Philip Seymour Hoffman will star in a Showtime pilot

The pilot is a dark comedy about an advertising agency executive (Hoffman) whose company is bought out and is staring down his own obsolescence, Variety reports. It also contains a "blistering attack on our youth-obsessed culture."

Kathryn Hahn will also star in "Trending Down," per the Hollywood Reporter.

Author and "This American Life" contributor Shalom Auslander wrote the pilot and executive produce with Hoffman, Emily Ziff and Ken Kwapis ("The Office," "Malcolm in the Middle").
