'Piers Morgan Live' wraps March 28: CNN's replacement plan
The news and politics talk show will air its last episode on Friday, March 28, after which a laundry list of familiar CNN names will take a spin behind the host's desk before the network announces a permanent replacement.
CNN's 9 p.m. hour will see multiple temporary fill-ins, including Don Lemon, Jake Tapper, Michael Smerconish and Bill Weir. Weir, an anchor and chief innovation correspondent, will also sub for Morgan next week while the outgoing host is on vacation.
Though he's losing his show, Morgan has stated that he'd like to continue to do "big" interviews for the network, telling The New York Times, "I'd like to do work -- interviews with big celebrities and powerful people -- that is better suited to what I do well and fit with what Jeff [Zucker] is trying to do with the network."
Just don't expect Chelsea Handler to be one of those big celebrities.
