please-like-me-season-3-pickup-pivot.jpgPivot has picked up a third season of its comedy series "Please Like Me," ahead of the show's second-season premiere.

The well-reviewed series from creator and star Josh Thomas chronicles the painful early adulthood of Josh the character, with events inspired by Thomas' real life. Season 2 premieres Aug. 8, with Season 3 due in 2015.

More news from Pivot at the summer TV press tour:

- The channel has set a January 2015 premiere date for its first original drama series, "Fortitude." The show stars Richard Dormer ("Game of Thrones") as the sheriff of a small Arctic town investigating a rare murder and Stanley Tucci as a detective from outside the town who's brought in to help with the case.

The series, a co-production with Sky in the U.K., also stars Michael Gambon, Christopher Eccleston, Sofie Grabel, Jessica Raine and Luke Treadaway. It was created by Simon Donald ("Low Winter Sun").

- Pivot has greenlit "The Operatives," a docu-series about a group of "extreme conservationists" that looks to expose and stop people who are harming wildlife and the environment. Conservationist Pete Bethune is at the center of the show.

- Improv-music show "Freestyle Love Supreme" and docu-series "Welcome to Fairfax" will both premiere Oct. 17. "Freestyle Love Supreme" comes from Lin-Manuel Miranda and Thomas Kail ("In the Heights") and features a team of performers spinning audience suggestions into original raps. "Welcome to Fairfax" chronicles the explosion of streetwear and skate culture along a stretch of Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles.
