Pork doughnuts, LeBron James pave way for Dunkin' Donuts in China
"Doughnuts are a very flexible product. You can do savory doughnuts, you can do doughnuts with shredded pork -- that's in China," Dunkin' Brands Chief Executive Officer Nigel Travis tells Reuters. "We also have a range of other savory products that we have been testing and introducing country by country."
The doughnut chain currently has about 150 stores in China, and getting the menu right is key to the stores' success.
Another new development the company is hoping will contribute to its success: a just-announced multi-year marketing campaign with NBA star LeBron James, who apparently has a big Chinese following.
Dunkin' Brands is also currently working on some other culinary experiments to cater to Chinese tastes, including milk tea and bagels with pork floss.
No better way to start your day than with pork floss.
