President Barack Obama wins Election 2012 following Ohio victory over Mitt Romney

barack-obama-michelle-election-tweet.jpgAt approximately 11:15 p.m. EST on November 6, major news organizations have called the election a win for President Barack Obama over Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, following him winning the vote of battleground Ohio's electoral college. NBC News, CNN, The New York Times, and Univision projected Obama as the winner.

Obama tweeted, "We're all in this together. That's how we campaigned, and that's who we are. Thank you. -bo." Following that, his team posted a photo of himself and Michelle Obama embracing with the tag, "Four more years."

ABC News' Jake Tapper suggested that Obama may be the first president reelected with fewer electoral college votes than he was elected with in his first term. Regardless, the President took the lead in swing states Pennsylvania, Iowa, Wisconsin, and New Hampshire early. It was the Ohio victory that finally secured the reelection and gave major news outlets, including FOX News, the confidence to call the election.

As of 11:45 p.m., however, Romney has not conceded Ohio -- meaning there can be no official call, only projections.
