emily-hanna-PLL.jpgThings are heating up on Rosewood, and "Pretty Little Liars" executive producer Marlene King tells Zap2it that interesting things are on the horizon for Ezria, Toby and Hanna.

As far as Ezra goes, we must admit that we were surprised he actually went through with it and told the Montgomerys about his relationship with Aria, but King says he had no choice.

"If he wanted to fight for Aria, he no longer had a choice," says King. She also says that we're going to start seeing a rift form between Ella and Byron about how to handle the situation.

"I will tell you that [the Montgomerys] don't necessarily agree on the direction and path they are going to take as parents now that they have this information," says King. "There is some personal betrayal because they got to know Ezra as a colleague and a friend. They have a certain respect for Aria and her maturity level, but at the same time, she's 16, he was her teacher and they have been lied to."

We think the show has been pretty clear that Ezra and Aria are not sleeping together and we wonder why Aria hasn't told her parents this, because it might have made a difference to them. King agrees, but isn't spilling too much.

"That is going to play out in some future episodes," she teases.

Moving on to Toby and Spencer, who seem to have reconciled happily, King says that (at least for Toby) there's a bad moon rising.

"You will see there is a betrayal this season and Toby is devastated and he becomes even more intense because of that betrayal, so we are seeing a slight shift in his character," says King. "But I will also say that Toby remains the moral compass of Rosewood."

And speaking of bad moons rising, Hanna is going to have her new family to deal with very soon and King says they "are going to bring conflict to Hanna and Ashley Marin."

But don't go getting your hopes up that Ashley will reunited with her ex-husband again.

"That is completely over for now and I will say it's really Ashley's choice, Ashley Marin the character," says King. "It's her choice to move on."

"Pretty Little Liars" airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
