'Pretty Little Liars' goes 'Psycho' and more finale thoughts
First off - Maya is dead and we totally called it. That's a huge bummer, but yeah, who didn't see that coming? "A's" been pretending to be her for weeks. The only question is, who took her out? We aren't convinced that Mona (and any other "As" out there) are the same person as who killed Alison. They don't necessarily have to be. So perhaps Ali's murderer killed Maya because she found something in Alison's old house? What are your theories on that one, fans?
Secondly, Ezra sure made a statement, huh? We aren't sure how smart it was to not only show up at the dance, but to make out with Aria just willy-nilly out there in the open. But since he's wandering jobless guy now, he probably no longer cares. And we think we can assume he and Aria slept together - though the show has been good about their homework, as age of consent in Pennsylvania is 16. So he's not a felon, which is always nice.
Thirdly, Melissa is still very suspicious. She stood by while Maya's body was carted away and looked almost evil, plus she just off-handedly drops to the girls that she knows how Jenna went blind? And she seems to think maybe Garrett killed Alison, but she loves/loved him. It's unclear. We may have to rewatch, tell us what you think about that.
It was awesome to see Spencer and Toby reunite and the return of Dr. Sullivan! Thank goodness Toby was faking all along. At times we thought he might be, but Keegan Allen was just so good at playing jerk Toby that we honestly weren't sure.
And finally, the "Psycho"-ness of it all. We are huge Hitchcock fans and the "Psycho" references were abundant and awesome. The Lost Woods as the Bates Motel, complete with its own Norman Bates and shower scene (though thankfully Hanna didn't get hacked to bits). And then Mona turning into Norman Bates at the end in the mental ward, when we thought the "Psycho" references were done? Genius.
If you haven't seen "Psycho" or "Vertigo," the Hitchcock film the Season 1 PLL finale paid homage to, you should definitely check them out. Worth the watch.
