'Pretty Little Liars' Season 4 'Cover For Me': Alison's mom is looking rather sketchy

andrea-parker-mrs-dilaurentis-pretty-little-liars.jpgOn the latest "Pretty Little Liars," some suspicions are cast Mrs. DiLaurentis' way, as Spencer tries to figure out what happened the night Alison "died."

Alison/A/Mrs. D and Spencer

Mrs. DiLaurentis has always been a little unhinged, but her daughter disappeared and was then found in a grave under a gazebo, so we all let it slide, right? However, in this latest episode, she makes some vaguely-worded threats to Spencer and then scares the ever-living daylights out of us when she appears in Spencer's room at episode's end.

Plus, it turns out Ez-cyclopedia Brown's big theory is that "A" is Mrs. DiLaurentis. That would be kind of interesting, to be sure. A grief-stricken mother stumbles on her dead daughter's secrets and starts terrorizing the daughter's little friends? We don't think that'll turn out to be it in the end, but if in the meantime we get to watch Andrea Parker be creepy, we're totally on board.

Aria's Lost Weekend

In her grief and rage, Aria goes off to Syracuse to see her dad, but really she's just there to get drunk and shack up with Riley, a guy she meets at a party. You know what they say -- the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.

She sort of works through some stuff, but it's more about just getting away from it all for a while. After the much-needed break, Aria goes to Ezra's apartment to tell him to leave town and get out of her life. He laughingly says they can work through this -- o rilly? Really, Ezra? Aria can just get over you using her for research into her friend's death true crime novel, the friend you had a relationship with, bee tee dub, and just keep snuggling with you? You're right. Bygones.

Luckily Aria has more sense than that -- and she also has the sense to take Ezra's manuscript that he offers her to read, which is where she discovers his Mrs.-D-is-"A" theory.

Hannah and Her Misters

Det. Hottie questions Hanna about the note the police received from Paige saying that Alison is alive and Hanna truthfully tells him she has no idea. Lt. Tanner thinks Hanna is full of it, but Hottie defends her. Of course, once Hanna figures out the note was written by Paige (which she confronts Emily about), Hanna will probably start lying the next time Tanner wants to chat about it.

Oh, and Hanna goes on a date with Travis but has to ditch out on him because of Aria's SOS text. He does get a smooch for his troubles, though.

Thoughts & Tidbits

  • Not the strongest episode overall, but we did find out that Mona has been working with Ezra on his book in order to keep her less-than-legal activities out of the "tattle tale." She also informs Emily that Ezra thinks he knows who stole the game from Mona in Radley, she just doesn't know who he thinks it is.
  • Spencer also gets two interesting pieces of correspondence -- a letter from London and an "A" message that reads, "I know you dug her grave, now I'm digging yours."
  • Spencer also has a flashback to herself chasing Ali while wielding that all-important shovel and she seems to remember hitting something with it and getting sprayed with blood. We don't know what the deal is yet, but we all know Alison is alive, so what exactly was Spencer walloping with the shovel? Someone was in Alison's supposed grave, was it whoever Spencer clobbered? We can't really see the show making one of its girls a killer, though.
  • This whole episode really seemed like a placeholder. A whole lotta nothing happened with a few tidbits sprinkled in. But we have a good feeling about the next two weeks.
