sasha-pieterse-ian-harding-pretty-little-liars-season-5-ABC-family.jpgAfter four seasons of mostly seeing Alison DiLaurentis via flashbacks and fever dreams, the former Queen Bee is back in full force on "Pretty Little Liars." ABC Family has released an episode description for Season 5, episode 3, titled "Surfing the Aftershocks," that confirms Alison will be dealing with her mother's death, which actress Sasha Pieterse tells Zap2it is going to be an arc throughout the entire season.

"It's very odd, what happens," says Pieterse. "It's a very strange thing for someone's daughter to come back and her mom not be there. That's going to tie into the whole season, but you'll definitely get a part of it right in the beginning." She also adds that Jason DiLaurentis will be back in Rosewood in light of what is going on with his family.

But the drama with Alison isn't solely sticking to dark family troubles. There is going to be some romantic drama as well. When asked if Alison has a love interest this season, Pieterse says, "I think she's very confused, but there is one in particular."

Is it Mr. Fitz? Don't get your hopes up, Ezra-Alison 'shippers.

"Alison really liked Ezra, she really felt something for him," says Pieterse. "But after everything that happened, I think she realized that it wasn't for her. I think she can see that Ezra and Aria have a much better connection than she and Ezra do, and if she feels like OK, I want to show people that I've changed, the last thing she would want to do is go and screw up that relationship between the two of them. I think she still really cares about him, but I'm not sure if you're going to see anything more there."

While viewers may not get to see any Ezra-Alison romance in the present, there is a flashback in the premiere episode to when they were together before her disappearance.

"It was a really fun scene," Pieterse teases. "I think you'll get a sense of why he was so infatuated with her and what the meaning behind why he liked her really is.

"Pretty Little Liars" Season 5 premieres Tuesday, June 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
