'Pretty Little Liars' stars: The premiere was 'quite a shocker when we read the script'

"Pretty Little Liars" came back in a big way Monday night (Jan. 3) on ABC Family. Stars Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson and Shay Mitchell dissect the return to Rosewood with Zap2it.

All three actresses say it was a shock for them when they read the script.

"[Hanna] definitely thinks she knows who 'A' is. She thinks it's Noel Kahn, so that was quite a shocker when we read the script," says Benson. "Honestly, I wasn't sure if Hanna was going to remember what she saw."

"Yeah, that was a shocker because in the books Hanna doesn't remember for awhile. So it was even a surprise for us when we got the script and we were working on it ... We were like, ' Whaaat?!'" adds Bellisario.

Aside from thinking Noel Kahn is "A," there are some other weird things happening to Hanna.

"'A' signs her cast while she was sleeping ... Alison appears in my dreams, and Lucas kisses me ... so just weird things happen. Just random stuff," laughs Benson.

Over at the Fields house, Emily finally comes out to her parents. And they don't take it so well.

"It's a good and bad thing," says Mitchell, about Emily's coming out. "A huge weight has been lifted off her shoulders, but the same weight or even more has been put back on ... her dad is a little bit more lenient towards it, but we'll have to see what happens with Mrs. Fields."

And with Bellisario's Spencer, evil big sister Melissa is back with a vengeance.

"Oh, Melissa is back," laughs Bellisario. "Melissa brings a whole new lot of trouble into Spencer's life. And of course, since Spencer has brought so much trouble into her sister's life, she kind of has to bite her tongue and deal with it."

What did you think, "Liars" fans? Did you enjoy the return to Rosewood on ABC Family?
