Prince Harry returning to Afghanistan for duty?
According to Agence France Presse, Harry, 26, has been given the greenlight to serve as an attack helicopter pilot. The Ministry of Defense confirmed the story, though reps for the prince say any return to battle is hypothetical at this point since Harry hasn't completed his training on the Apache helicopter.
"He is still training," said a representative from Clarence House. "He has still got another eight months of Apache training to go. Until he finishes that, the question of redeployment is hypothetical."
"But," the statement continues, "it has always been his intention to serve operations wherever the army sends him."
The prince served a short tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2007-2008, but hastily left the country when news leaked that he was in the region. Any return would likely not happen until 2012, but according to the U.K.'s Sun newspaper, both the Ministry of Defense and Queen Elizabeth have signed off on the prince's deployment.
