Prince William spent New Year's on a search-and-rescue mission
Prince William started off 2013 as a hero. The husband of Kate Middleton and father to their unborn child spent New Year's on a search-and-rescue mission off the coast of England.
BBC reports that William was called to search for a man missing along the coast of the Irish Sea while he was out piloting the RAF Sea King helicopter. Paul Morris, 41, had been walking his dog with his friend on the coastline when he was swept into the sea by what are being described as gale-force winds. Though the search mission lasted 90 minutes, the missing man has not been found.
"We have covered every possible angle and it's now in the hands of the police," a spokesman for the coast guard says. The watch manager at Crosby Coastguard station says it's "highly unlikely" Morris survived. The fried did manage to escape to safety.
