Pro-anorexia site slams Kate Upton for being fat and 'vulgar'
The site, SkinnyGossip, calls Upton a "cow," sarcastically commending her for her "bravery" in appearing on the runway half-naked. "Let's not pretend this is fashion. She looks thick, vulgar, almost pornographic - and she is a solid 30 lbs too heavy for this outfit," reads the shocking site.
Unsurprisingly, they weren't too entertained by Upton's recent commercials for Carls Jr. burgers. "Huge thighs, NO waist, big fat floppy boobs, terrible body definition - she looks like a squishy brick. Is this what American women are "striving" for now? The lazy, lardy look? Have we really gotten so fat in this country that Kate is the best we can aim for? Sorry, but: eww!"
Pro-anorexia websites have been a worrisome part of online culture for over a decade, but as they grow increasingly "mainstream," it's important for the media to acknowledge how problematic they are -- and to counteract them with positive messages for young women.
