Rainn Wilson apologizes for 'rape' Tweet, calls it 'poorly conceived'

rainn-wilson-gi.jpgIt's become abundantly clear that celebrities should stay away from Twitter. In an attempt to be clever or opinionated, they usually end up saying something dumb. The latest person to do this is "The Office" star Rainn Wilson.

On Monday (Feb. 20), Wilson writes on the 140-character social media site, "If I ever date raped I would want it to be to 'Whole Lotta Love' by Led Zepplin." He has since taken the post down, but not before hearing it from some of his 2.9 million Twitter followers.

Wilson got the message. On Tuesday (Feb. 21), he apologizes, saying, "Apparently my poorly conceived date-rape tweet upset a lot of folks. Not a good topic to joke about. Sorry & won't do that again."

Wilson joins a long line of celebs - including Ashton Kutcher, Roland Martin, Gilbert Gottfried and Orlando Jones - who have said ill-conceived things on Twitter only to apologize soon after.

When will they learn?
