On Tuesday (Jan. 11), FOX announced at the Winter TV Press Tour that their new comedy, "Raising Hope," about a single guy trying to raise his daughter with the "help" of his kooky family, will return for a second season.
"'Raising Hope' has emerged as a comedic standout: wickedly smart, hilarious and full of heart," says FOX's president of entertainment, Kevin Reilly. "[Executive producer] Greg Garcia and his great cast have established an appointment show on Tuesday nights this season, and we're confident it's just the beginning of great things to come."
To anyone who has been watching the show's ratings, this doesn't come as much as a surprise. It was this season's No. 1 series for adults 18-34 and teens. And, boy, that hits the right spot for advertisers. Nevertheless, it's a well-written show to boot getting much critical acclaim ( including Zap2it's nod) and bolstered by a talented cast including its lead actor, Lucas Neff, Martha Plimpton and Cloris Leachman.
"I'm happy that the show is getting another year," says Garcia, who used to EP "My Name is Earl." "But the fact that I've been trying to think of a funny quote for the last two hours and this is the best I could come up with makes me a little nervous about Season Two."
Um, well, the announcement was made very early this morning...
Are you happy "Raising Hope" is returning?
