If you think the premiere of "Raising Hope," was inappropriate, crass or too dark, stars Martha Plimpton and Lucas Neff would probably tell you to lighten up. They think their new series is downright gooey.

"The first episode ends with her singing a lullaby, for goodness sake," Plimpton tells Zap2it at a FOX fall premieres event. "How much softer do you want me to get?"

Well, she could start by filling in that hole in the bottom of her car, but clearly, all of the jokes at baby Hope's expense are smoke and mirrors. "I don't care what they told you," says Plimpton, "I did not punch that baby."

"A fist bump!" Neff chimes in.

And aside from more parenting pratfalls, the duo also shed some light on what else we'll see from in the series' freshman season, including more nudity from Cloris Leachman and additional scenes with Bijou Phillips.

Wasn't she executed in the first act? Well, yes. But she apparently they got their money's worth from her cameo before sending her on her way. Check out the full interview here:

(And that bit about more topless Cloris Leachman? Sarcasm. All she flashed was a smile.)
