'Ravenswood's' Merritt Patterson: 'A family tragedy' flips Olivia's world 'upside down'
Check out these clips of Merritt Patterson dishing the dirt on ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars" spinoff "Ravenswood."
On the show, Merritt is Olivia Matheson, one half of a brother-sister set of twins who seem to have it all -- until tragedy strikes.
"[Olivia] is kind of your all-American, popular girl who's kind of had everything in iife -- great family, great upbringing, well-liked in the town. She's gunning for Homecoming Queen. And then she experiences a family tragedy which kind of flips her world upside down ... it changes her," says Patterson.
The family tragedy is part of what adds to the darker nature of "Ravenswood."
"The show is definitely creepier and a little darker and it has the supernatural aspect, which is exciting," says Patterson. "Being here in New Orleans really adds character and charm and a serious vibe to that, which is great."
"Ravenswood" premieres Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT before moving to its regular timeslot, 8 p.m. ET, on Tuesday, Oct. 29 on ABC Family.
