The reality star tells People magazine that her 3-year-old son, Nicholas, has autism.

At around 18 months old, Nicholas began having issues with his speech and motor skills and started refusing to answer to his name.

"We had no idea what was going on," Jacqueline says, adding that she hid her son's medical issues from the reality cameras during the taping of Season 4.

Of course, once she and husband Chris Laurita received their son's diagnosis, it came with a whole new batch of concerns.

"I worry about him being independent when he's older," says Jacqueline, who also has two other children, Ashlee, 21, and C.J., 10. "I spend all my time researching what we can do for him."

"You never want to think that your child isn't perfectly healthy," Chris says. "We didn't want to believe it was true."
