'Real Housewives' Teresa, Joe Giudice break silence on fraud charges on 'Watch What Happens Live'Add to Favorites | The Real Housewives of New Jersey
Sitting down with Bravo's Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens Live" on Sunday (Sept. 29), the couple defended their lifestyle, with Joe asserting that, though the charges against them seem to suggest other wise, his family has never lived "beyond our means."
"Whatever I could afford to buy, I would buy," he said. 'We work hard, so what. We are allowed to make money. It's part of what we do. I'm a business man and I make money."
For her part, Teresa says she doesn't plan to run away or diminish herself in spite of the looming charges. "I am not crawling under a rock and hiding. That's not me," she says. "I am still going to be the person who I am today and the day I go to court, when we resolve this, everyone will see who Joe and I really are."
The two have pled not guilty to charges of exaggerating their income and hiding their wealth in a bankruptcy filing, as well as turning in fake tax returns. If convicted, they face hundreds of years in prison and fines in the millions.
Should the worst happen and the Guidices wind up behind bars, Joe says that Teresa's brother and sister-in-law Joe and Melissa Gorga, their co-stars on the Bravo hit, would not take care of his children. "I don't think my kids would even want to go with Melissa and Joe after all the things they say on television about their mom," he says. Instead, they children would stay with his sister and brother-in-law.
Do you think the Giudices will be found guilty?
