Reeva Steenkamp 'destined for success' before her tragic murder
Steenkamp was much more than a model, however. She writes on her Twitter bio that she is a "SA Model, Cover Girl, Tropika Island of Treasure Celeb Contestant, Law Graduate, Child of God."
She also would routinely use her Twitter account to speak out against violence perpetrated on women. One of her last tweets was her retweeting a message by South African singer Lindiwe Suttle: "WEAR BLACK THIS FRIDAY IN SUPPORT AGAINST #RAPE AND WOMAN ABUSE #BLACKFRIDAY."
Steenkamp also sounded excited for Valentine's Day, tweeting Wednesday, "What do you have up your sleeve for your love tomorrow??? #getexcited #ValentinesDay."
Her publicist, Sarit Tomlinson, tells the AP she was scheduled to give a motivational speech to Johannesburg students Thursday morning.
"It was about empowerment and inspiration and what inspires you and how to follow your dreams," says Tomlinson. "She was definitely destined for success."
Before she was a model, Steenkamp graduated with a law degree from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, her hometown. She moved to Johannesburg six years ago when she was named the face of Avon South Africa.
She was the cover girl for the December 2011 issue of FHM South Africa (below) and was set to appear on South African reality show "Tropika Island of Treasure 5," which is supposed to debut this weekend.
