Regis Philbin's retirement is about to end. The former host of "Live! With Regis and Kelly" is reportedly set to host a sports-panel show on Fox Sports 1 this summer.

While an official announcement of the potential show -- and the network that will host it -- is not expected before Tuesday (March 5) afternoon, Philbin himself let the cat out of the bag when appearing on Monday's (March 4) episode of "The View." When Barbara Walters asked Reeg about his upcoming projects, Philbin replied, "Yes, I think I will be doing another show."

What show might that be? "Fox is starting a sports channel. Everybody is starting a sports channel now... Regis is going to have a show on that."

Fox Sports 1, probably the channel Philbin referred to, is expected to replace Speed (owned by Fox) as a sports-oriented cable channel. Assuming Regis Philbin does appear on a sports show starting this summer, Michael Davies -- the producer of another of Philbin's old gigs, "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" -- is expected to come on board as well.

UPDATE:

News Corp. (the parent company for the Fox networks) has officially announced the launch of Fox Sports 1 on August 17, 2013. The new channel will take over from Speed, reaching an estimated 90 million homes immediately. Sports scheduled for broadcast include college basketball and football, soccer, UFC and Nascar. Major Leauge Baseball will follow in 2014.

Regis Philbin's new show, "Rush Hour," will air weeknights from 5-6pm ET and will feature panels of regulars and guests.
