reign-the-consummation-uncensored-cw.jpgNever one to shy away from controversy, The CW is making a bold move with Thursday's (March 6) episode of "Reign."

In what's likely a network TV first, the network will release two versions of the episode, "The Consummation," Entertainment Weekly reports. Viewers who tune in on their TVs will see a cut that meets broadcast content standards, while an uncensored "too hot for TV" cut will be available to stream exclusively online.

Where do the differences between the two versions lie? Why, in the editing of a pair of sex scenes, of course.

The experimental move marks the first time a broadcaster has released two versions of the same episode during the same week, with one containing the content that was deemed inappropriate by the network's standards department.

A spokesperson for the network wouldn't expound on what exactly happens in the pertinent scenes, but notes that the network isn't simply adding R-rated content. Rather, they say they're offering "a more sexually intense edit of the existing program." Of the two scenes which bookend the episode, the one nearing the end involved Mary (Adelaide Kane), who will choose between Bash (Torrance Coombs) and Francis (Toby Regbo) in the episode.

The edited version of "The Consummation" will air Thursday, March 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, while the unedited cut will be posted to the network's website on Friday morning.
