'Remington Steele' reboot in the works at NBC as half-hour comedy

remington-steele-remake-nbc.jpgFollowing in the illustrious footsteps of recent TV reboots "Knight Rider" and "Charlie's Angels" (we kid), "Remington Steele" is on track for an update at NBC.

Deadline reports that the Peacock is planning a next-generation sequel series to its 1982-87 romantic comedy/drama procedural, notable for launching the career of Pierce Brosnan. Keeping the same title, the new series will follow Olivia Holt, the daughter of Remington Steele (Brosnan) and Laura Holt ( Stephanie Zimbalist), as she reopens the once-world-famous Remington Steele Detective Agency -- only to fall into the same "hilarious, action-packed, romantic entanglements" of her parents.

While the original series was an hour long, the proposed update, to be written by Jay Sherick and David Ronn ("Spin City"), will take on the half-hour comedy format. Ruben Fleischer ("Gangster Squad") is set to direct the project, which has a script commitment plus penalty.

Do you think an update of "Remington Steele" is a good idea?
