Report: Amy Winehouse found dead in London

amy-winehouse-dead-getty.jpgThe United Kingdom Press Association is reporting that British singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment around 3:50 p.m. London time Saturday afternoon (July 23). The London Ambulance Service arrived at her north London home and attended to Winehouse, but were unable to save her life.

The singer recently canceled all her engagements and tour dates after a series of erratic public appearances. Prior to that, she had spent as short stint in London's Priory Clinic in an effort to sober up for the tour.

The death is being regarded right now as "unexplained," but drug and alcohol abuse have plagued Winehouse for most of her career.  Winehouse has put out two studio albums, "Frank" in 2003 and "Back to Black" in 2006, for which she won five Grammy awards.

Winehouse was 27 at the time of her death, which is pretty eerie, since that's the age at which Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison also passed away.

We'll update this story as more details become available. Our condolences to her family, friends and fans.
