'Resurrection' and 'The Quest' get premiere dates as ABC firms up 2014 scheduleAdd to Favorites | Resurrection
Just what will go on during the off time of some of those veteran shows, however, hasn't been determined yet.
Unscripted show "The Quest" will debut at 8 p.m. ET Thursday, Jan. 2, taking over the timeslot from "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland." Drama "Resurrection" will move into Sunday nights at 10 starting March 9.
"The Quest" is essentially a LARPing competition, with players competing for a prize in a fantasy world called Everrealm. "Wonderland" will have completed its initial 13-episode order by the end of 2013, but if it's successful it could get picked up for more episodes that would air in the spring of 2014.
"Resurrection" is about how people react when their deceased loved ones come back to them as if a day hadn't gone by. It will take over for another new drama, "Betrayal," which also will have wrapped before then.
ABC is doing split-season scheduling for a lot of its dramas in 2013-14, and thus has set return dates in February and March for "Nashville," "Grey's Anatomy," "Scandal," "Once Upon a Time" and "Revenge." They'll all have their usual fall runs, take time off in January and February, then return to finish out the season with a second long run of original episodes.
That scheduling will also mean ABC doesn't have to put its veteran shows up against the Winter Olympics, which will air for 17 nights on NBC in February. ABC hasn't made a decision yet on what will fill in for its veteran dramas during their time off.
Here is ABC's midseason schedule thus far:
