The Academy of Country Music Awards were in many ways a preview of Kelly Clarkson's wedding rehearsal dinner. Clarkson says the show's co-host, Blake Shelton will officiate her nuptials to Shelton's manager, Brandon Blackstock. The groom's father, Narvel Blackstock, just so happens to be Kelly's talent manager as well as husband to country superstar Reba McEntire, who presented at the ACMs Sunday night (April 7).
Blake told ET he is set to sing at Clarkson and Blackstock's wedding, but that's just half the story. "He's not only singing' he's marrying us," says Clarkson. "He's done it before with people." Kelly says Blake likes to play up his party animal persona, but the reality is "he can be very sentimental."
Kelly has a month picked out for the ceremony but no exact date, as schedules have proved difficult to coordinate. But she did pick out her wedding dress quickly and says, "I'm really not that girl. I could totally show up at the Justice of the Peace and be fine. But my mom would kill me." As for the massive canary yellow diamond sparkler Brandon proposed with, Kelly loves it but says, "It could've honestly been out of a Cracker Jack box and I'd have been fine."
Clarkson happily refers to Shelton as "Reverend Blake," and reveals he also plans to officiate the nuptials of Ashley Monroe, a member of his wife Miranda Lambert's band, Pistol Annies. Monroe is engaged to John Danks, the starting pitch for the Chicago White Sox.
