'Revolution' by Eric Kripke and Ryan Murphy's 'New Normal' picked up by NBC for Fall 2012

eric-kripke-ryan-murphy.jpg "Supernatural" creator Eric Kripke is having a very good week. On the heels of "Supernatural" being picked up for Season 8 -- quite a feat, considering we still remember doubting whether Season 2 would happen -- his new pilot, "Revolution," has just been given a series order by NBC.

"Revolution," written by Kripke and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, examines a world in which all forms of technology -- from phones to televisions -- cease to function. It stars David Lyons, Billy Burke, and Giancarlo Esposito as men trying to reconnect with loved ones and survived in the startling new landscape.

After reading the script, we named it one of our most highly anticipated pilots of the season.

NBC has also picked up the comedy " The New Normal" from "Glee" head honcho Ryan Murphy. The show stars Justin Bartha and Andrew Rannells as a gay couple who use a surrogate (Georgia King) to build a family.

The news was first reported by Deadline.
