Rhys Ifans shows off Lizard voice from 'The Amazing Spider-Man'

Bear with us, we are big comic book nerds.

For those of you who don't know, "Notting Hill" star and all-around Welsh bad boy Rhys Ifans will be portraying super-villain "The Lizard" in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot. Still have questions? The Lizard is the animalistic alter-ego (think Jekyll and Hyde) of brilliant scientist Dr. Curt Connors. When Connors is the Lizard, he's a hulking, snarling, toothy, sub-human killing machine.

Ifans premiered a little bit of the Lizard for MTV News and the good news is that it sounds pretty great. Ifans has been sporting a motion capture suit for the shoot which will allow his movements and facial expressions to be used in the eventual CGI effect. Apparently, the Lizard will employ Ifans real voice as well.

"It's totally my voice...I'm sure the voice will be toyed with in the eventual edits, but when I was shooting the CGI moments...when I was Lizard...There were many moments when I had to speak to Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone."

We know people get crusty about reboots (ourselves included), but we have to say that the formula here is working for us. Andrew Garfield is an inspired choice and the Lizard may prove to be the least hokie villain yet appearing in a Spider movie. So far, so good!
