Two more members have been added to the swatting club. First, police raced to Diddy's house Wednesday morning, sending more than a dozen squad cars, and even two helicopters, to the rapper's Los Angeles home. TMZ reports police sprung into action after receiving a call that someone had been shot inside the rapper's house. Of course, the call was a prank.
Next, Rihanna got the swatting treatment Thursday when a 911 call came in, reporting two armed men were in the singer's house, and had shot someone. Police rushed to her home in the Pacific Palisades, only to find they had been pranked again. Rihanna and Diddy join a long list of victims, including Justin Bieber, Ashton Kutcher, Tom Cruise, Paris Hilton, Clint Eastwood, and more.
While a suspect, a 12-year-old, was arrested for the Bieber and Kutcher calls, police have yet to capture those who continue the prank. However, someone is finally taking credit for it. The celebrity hackers who exposed the financial information of several famous people say they are behind the swatting calls.
A source close to the hacker investigation says the group are claiming credit for every single swatting call that happened after the 12-year-old was arrested. The FBI continues to investigate the celebrity hackers, though no arrests have been made.
