Rima Fakih: DUI arrest happened while she was designated driver
Now, her lawyer has revealed details of the incident... including the fact that Fakih was acting as designated driver when she was pulled over. Attorney Doraid Elder tells the Detroit Free Press that Fakih was driving her friend's car -- because her friend was too drunk to drive.
Apparently, Fakih realized that she, too, was too drunk to be behind the wheel after she'd been driving for a brief period. She was pulling over to the side of the road when the police spotted her.
Tweets were sent out from Fakih's Twitter account claiming that she was not the person arrested, but they were quickly removed. Elder says that Fakih didn't send the tweets, but well-intentioned people with access to her account did. "She is taking full responsibility," he says. "She wants to apologize to everybody she let down."
If convicted, Fakih faces 93 days in jail, but she's not letting it stress her out. Her tweets on Sunday focused on her morning jog and plans to watch football.
