'Rising Star': Kesha and Ludacris partially explain ABC's new singing competition

ABC has released a teaser/explainer for its forthcoming singing competition "Rising Star," and if there's one thing the network wants you to know, it's this: The power is in the hands of you, the viewer.

Host Josh Groban and not-judges (ABC is calling them "experts") Ludacris, Kesha and Brad Paisley lay out the premise of the show in the video: Singers perform live in front of a giant video wall. Viewers vote via an app on whether the performer should stay or go. The video wall fills up with the faces of voters, and if enough of them vote yes, the wall rises to reveal a live audience and the three experts.

Not explained in the video: How live voting will work for people who don't live in the Eastern or Central time zones; just what role the three music stars will play on the show; when the voting app will be available; and whether the fact that it takes 90 seconds to explain the show's premise is a good thing.

"Rising Star" premieres at 9 p.m. ET/8 CT Sunday, June 22 on ABC.
