Robert Bunsen gets his 200th birthday Google doodle

Could this be one of the most abstract Google doodle, yet? We get the reference, but we had to stare at the search engine's homage to Robert Bunsen a few moments before we could spell out the letters.

Bunsen, of course, was the German chemist responsible for the invention of the Bunsen burner. His revolutionary laboratory heaters still assist in experiments in labs and high schools today.

He lived to the ripe old age of 88 -- but had he defied mortality completely, he would be 200 years old today. He was born Mar. 31, 1811.

Happy birthday, Robert. We hope, wherever you are, this little tribute doesn't confuse you too much.
