Showtime is developing a Robert Downey Jr.-produced drama about drug use in the 1980s. The untitled series comes from Sony Pictures TV, Team Downy productions and executive producers Downey, Susan Downey and Gary Lennon.

According to EW.com, the series will follow life in a rehab community in 1983. Set in Venice Beach, Calif., there will be conflict between the bohemian lifestyle of the area and the need to get clean. Lennon ("Orange Is the New Black," "Justified") wrote the pilot episode.

This could be a very personal project for Downey, who has publicly struggled with drug addiction in the past. He was even imprisoned in a rehab facility for one year in 1999.

There is no announced airdate for the show.
