Robert Pattinson talks Kristen Stewart on 'The Daily Show': Details from the interviewAdd to Favorites | The Daily Show With Jon Stewart
Previously, media outlets have suggested that Rob wouldn't answer any questions about his relationship with Kristen. After all, he rarely acknowledged their relationship publicly even in happy times.
Now, sources inside the taping confirm to Zap2it that Jon did ask Rob about the break-up, and while he did answer the questions, Rob refused to publicly disparage Kristen. Looks like she didn't have much to be nervous about after all!
In fact, Rob was all smiles during the interview. Jon, who joked that Rob had lost weight, provided a couple of cartons of Ben & Jerry's -- every romantic comedy's cure for the break-up blues -- to make light of the situation. Rob teased that he couldn't chow down -- "I'm going to split my Spanx. I'm double spanked."
Considering the awkward situation, Jon tread lightly -- suggesting that Rob was better off without Kristen in the first place. When Jon suggested that seeing the photos must have made Rob feel like his world ended, Rob said, "It does." But as the audience began to murmur in sympathy, Rob clarified that he was only making a joke, and not to feel sorry for him. Classy! Asked if he had any official statement on the split, Rob said only that he hoped "Twilight" fans would support "Cosmopolis."
Rob, who has never employed a publicist throughout his "Twilight" media storm, did tease that he'd be getting a PR rep soon. Jon joked that a time machine might be more useful. We must say, though, for a celebrity without a publicity team dictating his every move, Rob has handled the pressure well. Less dedicated actors might have chosen to bow out of the promo tour for the film, whereas Rob has reliably fulfilled all of his obligations.
Immediately after the interview, Pattinson headed for the "Cosmopolis" premiere -- and though he did step onto the red carpet, he had to be hurried inside after fans rushed the barricades.
