Rock and Roll Hall of Fame adds Public Enemy, Heart, Rush and more
Additionally, legendary producers Lou Adler and Quincy Jones have been named recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award for non-performers.
The 2013 induction ceremony is scheduled for April 18, 2013 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. It's the first West Coast ceremony since 1993, and is open to the public. Tickets go on sale Jan. 25 and more information is available on the Rock Hall's official site. The ceremony will also be broadcast on HBO, per usual, May 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
The 2013 inductees were chosen by more than 500 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Eligibility mandates require an individual artist or band to have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.
One fun fact: Public Enemy is only the fourth hip-hop act to make the Rock Hall of Fame -- which is located in Cleveland, Ohio -- following Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-D.M.C. and Beastie Boys.
While the living acts are expected to attend the induction ceremony, Summer and King will be inducted posthumously.
